Think Big, Make it Big

Everyone gambles at some point of their lives.

Hold on before you question my statement.I'm not talking about casinos and stuff. Isn't life after all a game of chance? Think about when you step out of the house. For all you know some air-con may just land on you, a random projectile may just hit you smack right in the face or even worse, your neighbour below may just forget to turn the stove off at 12am and you won't even realise why you're in some unfamilar place.

Since life is a gamble, why not place high stakes? Afterall, we aren't cats, we only got 1 life so why not live it to the fullest? Those who smoke, drink, take dopes are pure idiots or you may consider them to be smart since they're buying an express ticket to god knows where.

I've always believed in this theory. That is if one has big aims, he will definitely make it big. Thats provided that he at least works for it.

I wonder if its the exposure to the working life that set me thinking about what I wish to become in future. I don't envision myself screwing others up as a lawyer. Ok the previous sentence might be wrong so let me rephrase. I don't see the possibility of me getting a law degree. Afterall, all lawyers are married, to their job that is. Being married has some really serious consequences.

1. Your friends will ditch you
2. You have totally no time for yourself
3. You will be exhausted daily entertaining your spouse
4. You cannot have 'extra-marital' affairs

The list could just go on but I can't be bothered to type all that out. Of the 4 points I've listed, point 4 is by far the worst. It applies both to being married to your job and being married to a real, living person. It means you are tied down for life, and men take it the hardest due to some baised act called the Women's Charter.

Anyway, enough of sidetracking. Yes, being a lawyer ensures a fat paycheck. Point is, I don't see any on Forbes Lists of the world's richest people.

Lets take a look at the top 5 on the list.

1. Warren Buffett - Investment
2. Carlos Slim - Telecom
3. Bill Gates - Microsoft
4. Lakshmi Mittal - Steel
5. Mukesh Ambani - Oil

Being a lawyer by profession will by no means put me within the league of these guys. The only way will be to start a business. What kind of business, I do not know at the moment but what I do know is that when I strike at the right moment, (fill this up with your imagination). Afterall, if we think big, we'll be able to make it big.

Just for laughs

Ideas

I have no idea what to write at all... I wonder how people are able to update their blogs on a regular basis haha.

I spent the past fews days on shattered galaxy, an old game dating back to 1999-2000 and I started in 2002 playing on and off.

Well what I could say is playing it gives me memories of the past, reliving memories I shared with some of my online pals but I lost contact with some totally though... but there are still some whom I've got their contacts but rarely speak to them now since we have our own lives and have no common points to talk about I guess.

Transport

40 years ago, what we see on the streets in Singapore were mostly bicycles, bullock carts, rickshaws, etc.

Now, we see cars, buses, lorries, motorcycles, etc.

40 years later, what will we see?

Winding tubes suspended in the air by wires connected to the buildings of Singapore which average 300 storeys each and able to move at speeds up to 1000km/h? Forget about walking on the streets without a mask or you'll choke within a second. Beneath the ground level would be an amazing network of bullet train tracks that can take you to any part of the world ranging from a few seconds for nearby countries to maybe 1 or 2 hours for further countries.

The best thing has yet to be revealed. All these will be powered purely by electricity obtained from a special device that is able to collect solar energy day in day out.

Ok that was all imaginary.

Blacks

Ok the following post may be considered racist so you may choose not to read it.

Black people, for some reason, are always looked down upon. Lets not talk about other countries first, lets just take Singapore. Over here, black people are commonly known as 'bangalas', a nasty shortform for bangaladeshi workers.

So why are these workers who left their homeland to work in Singapore given nasty looks by citizens? I pondered over this question and figured out some possibilities. More often than not, its the black sheeps that produce a negative image of the way we look at things. However, in the case of these bangalas, we often see news reports stating things such as the workers getting drunk in void decks, talking loudly in the middle of the night, etc.

It takes eons for one to forge a good reputation in society whereas it only takes a single wrong to give others a bad impression of you. I suppose it could be attributed to the fact that they have little education and the fact that most Singaporeans are fairly well educated, they just don't sort of 'fit into' our society.

The government recently decided to build a hostel to house these workers somewhere in Serangoon. The action received a strong array of protests from residents which is by no means surprising given the bad reputation of these foreign workers. Although the residents' protests are justified, the government is also not in the wrong either.

Afterall, we recruited them to Singapore and it is only right that they are given a home to stay. Should the hostel be built elsewhere, strong protests would ensue. Its up to the government to decide, there's no point protesting. If you live in Serangoon, then you either shift house or stay there and maybe whine about it. Live with it, life is unfair at times.

Thats it for now.

Sometimes...

I might need to add a little disclaimer here disclaiming any liability for any loss suffered by any persons who decide to read the following post. Otherwise, hope you enjoy reading :)

There is one thing on Earth that drives mankind to do all sort of things in order to gain possession of it. Furthermore, when man does get hold of it, they would desire for more and more of it and their thirst or rather hunger for it is never sastified. Its like a vortex and it draws people from all walks of life to it and both good and bad results from the way we use it.

The thing is money.

Thats it, money, is defined as power. The more money you have, the more influential you are and you can change the world with lots of money. Look at Bill Gates and think about how many people are using Microsoft these days.

In contrast, do you remember the face of the guy who delivers newspapers to your doorstep daily?

Bid goodbye to the days whereby we where the next meal is coming from. Now ,we are concerned where our next big break is coming from. Well, some people just don't try hard to make it happen so they choose the easy way out. Buying a lottery ticket or something along that line. These people are defined as the lazy kind. To me, they're simply buying a slip of luck and how many people actually buy a lottery ticket and strike it big?

With the Singapore economy doing badly these days, there is no wonder long queues can be seen at the Singapore Pools. However, people just or rather choose not to understand the fact that its only a .0001% or maybe even less chance of them striking the 1st prize. Its a sort of sastification I suppose, that the numbers on that little slip of paper would cash in for thousands of dollars.

Stubborn is the word.

Ok I gotta end here and maybe continue next time.

Ambitions

Remember the days when we were young, there will definitely 1 essay topic about ambitions? When we talk about ambitions what comes straight most people's minds are police, doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. These are the more common jobs I suppose.

I classify these people into 2 categories, namely fools and people with determination. Well, save for police, the rest of the jobs i listed are professional jobs which is by no means an easy feat to accomplish. Given the amount of seats available in Universities around the world and comparing that with the world's population, I suppose you get my drift.

Since young, I've been wondering what I really wish to become in the future and up till now I'm still confused which path I wish to take. Yes you may be laughing at this point but ask yourself this question, will you forsee yourself doing what you're doing right now 10, 20 years down the road? If your answer is yes then good for you.

For me, I know definitely for a fact that I wouldn't want to be wallowing in an office all day long doing boring paperwork.

Well, how nice if I could backtrack time.
